A-4 Academy Awards - Point of View Movie Day!

Students enjoyed a fun-filled day in Room A-4 today watching each other's Point of View movies while reenacting an "Academy Awards" ceremony in the classroom!  Students entered the class on a "red carpet" while "paparazzi" cameras flashed taking their photos!  Students enjoyed popcorn and awarded each other with "Oscars" for categories such as "Best Cinematography," "Best Animation," "Best Screenplay," "Best Picture," and more!  The Point of View movies included hand-created sets/characters, their very own digital photography, text/voice narration, sound/music, and much creativity all using MovieMaker Live!  Click here to see the process on the previous blog post.  Despite a few spelling errors (Remember to proofread!), the movies turned out great!  Enjoy a few finished products and festivities below:

Point of View Movies - "Flickr Five Frames"

Can you tell a story in 5 pictures?  That is the challenge posted by Flickr called "Flickr Five Frames".  Students were challenged to take a familiar story or create one of their own and "tell" the story through 5 photos using digital cameras.  What a great way to review the elements of plot!  To add standards to the project, students were challenged by Miss Lukins to tell the same story in the three different points of view:  first person, third person omniscient, and third person limited.  Students accomplish this task by creating movies using MovieMaker Live to combine their photos, narration in text/audio in the three points of views, and sound/music.  Enjoy the process--storyboard, creating characters/setting, photography, and movie-making--below!

Below is a random assortment of student photos...MOVIES TO COME SOON!

AVID Field Trip to UCSB & Westmont College

AVID students enjoyed a field trip to Santa Barbara today to visit two college campuses.  Students were encouraged to compare and contrast UCSB (a large university campus) and Westmont College (a small private college) as they took guided tours around campus by current students.  Students also enjoyed visiting the UCSB bookstore and lunch and recreation at Goleta Beach playing volleyball, eating lunch, and enjoying the beautiful scenery.  What a fantastic day!
