Character Analysis - Annotation, Citation, & Reflection
Students analyzed character development in the first two chapters of The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. As they read, student annotated the text and after they read, they chose one character to find and color-code textual evidence of the 5 types of indirect characterization: appearance, action, speech, thoughts/feelings, and other characters' reactions. Finally, students created a presentation (PowerPoint, movie, etc.) about their chosen character citing evidence (in quotation marks with page numbers) and writing detailed commentary analyzing this character through the author's expert use of the 5 types of indirect characterization. Enjoy the hard work below!
